On 4th January 1995 a great tragedy affected the scout group. During a winter camp in Monteferrante, in Abruzzo, the ceiling of the building, where the scouts were spending the night, gave way because of the weight of snow, overwhelming the scouts. Six seriously wounded scouts were extracted from the rubble, while the little Stefano Costa, 11 years old, the group mascot, was extracted lifeless. From that moment the novolesi scouts are named C.N.G.E.I. Lecce Division - "Stefano Costa" Group - Novoli joined with the C.N.G.E.I. Lecce Division (Italian Young Explorers National Corp).
In the spring of 1996 the group, under the new name, organized the "First aid and intervention" course in cooperation with the Italian Red Cross.
In the summer of the same year the group was at "Prugga'96", an international camp organized by Austrian scouts near Vienna.
In December 1996, it was the first time "Light of Peace from Bethlehem” has been in Novoli and in the south of Italy, thanks to novolesi scouts. This initiative consisted of carrying the light lit in the grotto in Bethlehem to all Europe through scouts. The event involved civil and military authorities, as well as significant personality as Elisa Springer, imprisoned in Auschwitz. The event was repeated in Veglie in December 1997.
From 20th July 2001 to 6th August 2001, the Rovers of the Society take part in Eurolife.01, in Switzerland, an international camp organized by Swiss scouts in Interlaken, near Bern.
Cubs and Explorers went on holidays at "Brownseea Park" in Abruzzo.
From 30th July 2003 to 13th August 2003, novolesi Scouts joined in "Flamboree", an international camp organized by scouts of the Belgian Association in Belgium near Brussels.
Nearly 3,000 scouts were involved, representing 30 nations. At the same period they organized their Summer Camp on Pollino mountain in Calabria.
In 2004 they were in the National Camp for Boy and Girl scouts in Irpinia and precisely in Montella (AV) in "Piana of Verteglia", together with other 5,000 scout.
In the same year the cubs were in Montemonaco (AP) for their summer camp.
In 2005 the First Competition scholarship was named after Stephen Costa, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the tragic death of the scout "Stephen Costa”, the 30th anniversary of the birth of the Scout Group and the tenth anniversary of lay scouting in Novoli, and it was organized in collaboration with the Middle School of Novoli, about environmental and social issues of our time.
From 26th to 13th August, the rovers took part in the international camp in Sweden. Cubs and Explorers were in San Severino Lucano from 8th to 16th August. At the end of August some heads carried out the course of training in "Colonia of Renesso" in Genoa. On the 11th of September the feverish preparations were made for the participation of the March of Peace-Perugia Assisi.
